Outside shooting keyed the Chaps in the early going, but College of Lake County rallied late and handed the Chaps a 62-59 defeat in Region 4 men's hoops Dec. 6.
 
COD, now 5-7 overall, is at McHenry County on Tuesday night before completing the first half of the season Thursday at home against Prairie State.
 
Matt Elliott led the Chaps in scoring with 13 points, with Drew Gaston (12) and Finn Walsh (11) the others in double digits.
 
COD hit six 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes of play, leading 23-7 with 10:28 left in the first half and never trailed until the Lancers' Justin St. Louis' 3-pointer gave CLC a 39-37 lead with 14:39 left in the game.
 
The Chaps answered right back on an 18-7 run, capped by a pair of Walsh free throws that put COD up 57-44 with 6:10 left.
 
But the Chaps couldn't put away CLC and it proved costly as COD was held scoreless over the final 2:32.
 
The Chaps finished with 11 3-pointers. Derome added nine points, all on 3s, for COD.
