A commanding second-half leap evaporated Thursday night as host Madison dealt the Chaparrals a 62-57 loss in Region 4 men's basketball.

Drew Gaston keyed the Chaps with 22 points and
Kaashif Malik added 11 as the Chaps shot 40 percent from the field on 20-of-50 shooting.

The Chaps led Madison 31-17 at the break, thanks to holding the WolfPack to just 22 percent shooting with just six field goals.

The second half seemed as if nothing had changed as COD held a 20-point lead, thanks to Gaston's 3-pointer that put the Chaps up 43-23 with 15:18 left.

The WolfPack whittled the lead over the next 12 minutes, yet COD still led 55-50 on Gaston's jumper with 3:31 to go.

Down the stretch, the game belonged to Madison, which finished off COD on a 12-2 run.
