A stellar second half closed the book on the regular season for the Chaparrals, who defeated visiting Harper 70-55 in Region 4 women's basketball Tuesday night.
 
Mykah Berkompas scored a game-high 22 points and 
Makenna Brown followed with 22 for the Chaps, who outscored the Hawks 42-24 in the final 20 minutes of play for the win.
 
COD, now 5-14 overall, awaits Wednesday's seeding meeting that will determine post-season play that begins Friday.
 
Down 31-28 at halftime, the Chaps grabbed the lead for good on a Berkmompas 3-pointer that pushed them up 36-34 with 7:27 remaining in the third quarter.
 
COD then earned its first double-digit lead on a 
Marquita Gardner inside score and the Chaps led 55-45 with 6:06 left.
 
The Chaps held the Hawks to just 27.3 percent shooting.
 
Berkompas grabbed nine rebounds with five assists, and Brown dominated off the glass with 18 boards and dealt eight assists.
 
Gardner scored 13 with 10 boards.
