Joliet's extra-inning effort spoils Chaps' chances

An extra-inning rally by visiting Joliet junior College prevented the Chaparrals from earning a split in Tuesday's N4C doubleheader at Sark Park,

COD, now 7-13 and 3-5 N4C, remains home Wednesday when it takes on Morton College with first pitch at 3 p.m.

Game 1: Joliet 6, Chaparrals 2
Paige Jahaske accounted for both runs batted in — a single that scored Kelsey Warren in the third and a double in the fifth that scored Carlee Baker. The Chaps totaled eight hits with Jahaske finishing with a 3-for-3 effort. Vincenza Zaccaro answered with a pair of singles.

Game 2: Joliet 11, Chaparrals 8 8 innings
The Chaps took command early, leading 6-1 after two innings, but the Wolves got back with a game-tying run in the seventh to force extras. They added three in the eighth for the win. In the first, Amber Dasenbrock keyed the inning with a two-run double and in the second, she added a run-scoring single. After Joliet scored six runs in the third and led 7-6, COD scored twice in the fourth — thanks to Dasenbrock's two-run triple. Dasenbrock, Warren and Baker each had three hits as COD totaled 15 for the game.
