Host Madison grabbed control in the opener and rallied late in the second game in handing the Chaparrals a pair of losses, 8-0 and 8-3, in Region IV and N4C softball Tuesday afternoon.

The losses drop the Chaps to 9-19 overall and 3-7 N4c as they prepare for Thursday's doubleheader at home against Moraine Valley.

Game 1: Madison 8, Chaparrals 0 5 innings
The Chaps mustered just three hits off the WolfPack with
Elena Stevenson,
Kelsey Warren and
Gianna Maida providing their offense with singles. Madison broke the game open with a four-run fourth, and ended the game with three runs in the eighth.
Elena Stevenson was solid on the mound for the Chaps as she gave up a run in the first without a hit. She retired Madison in order in the second, and threw a scoreless third.

Game 2: Madison 8, Chaps 3
The Chaps got off to a great start with a two-run first and led 3-2 after their half of the fourth, but the host WolfPack scored six unanswered runs and earned the sweep, both for the day and the season series. In the first,
Vincenza Zaccaro laced a single through the left side to score
Paige Jahaske, who reached on a fielder's choice. Maida followed with an infield ground-out that scored
Raquel Procopio, who reached on an error. In the fourth,
Lauren Onnezi provided the Chaps' other RBI with a two-out single to center that scored Zaccaro, who led off the inning with a single to right. Zaccaro led the Chaps with two of the team's six hits — all singles. Jahaske struck out two in her five innings of work.
