Alijah Nelson scored 24 points, including 19 in the second half, as the visiting Chaparrals pulled away from host Madison College 76-70 in Region 4 men's play Thursday night.
 
COD (9-8, 1-1 N4C) split its first week of N4C play and returns home next week, beginning Tuesday night against Harper College.
 
The Chaps shot 57.1 percent from the field in the second half on 16 of 28 shooting. Nelson hit 5 of 6 FGs as COD outscored the Wolfpack 50-41 in the final 20 minutes.
 
Nelson's 3-pointer opened a 7-0 run and gave COD the lead for good with 1:41 to go, 69-68.
 
Drew Gaston scored 16 points.
 
COD had just six turnovers on the night, and outscored Madison 13-2 on points off turnovers.
 
Finn Walsh added nine points and Matt Elliott seven with a team-high seven rebounds.
