Katlyn Allen led the Chaparrals with 16 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and two steals as they withstood a second-half challenge in their 55-48 win over visiting Harper in Region 4 women's play Tuesday night.
 
COD won its second straight game for the first time this season as it takes a 5-11 record into Thursday night's home game against Milwaukee Area TC.
 
COD, which led 30-18 at halftime, struggled in the third quarter as Harper outscored the Chaps 18-8 to get back into the game heading into the final quarter.
 
Three-pointers from Mykah Berkompas, Katlyn Allen and Alyssa Havard gave COD a 49-40 lead with 6:14 to go.
 
"It was an ugly game, but we got it done,'' head coach Abigail Talley said. "Katlyn earned a double-double and Mykah worked the ball around for her six assists. Those are the things that you need to do to win. We came out flat after halftime and let them back into the game. We found some answers, hit some shots and got the momentum back.  We attacked inside and kicked it back for that stretch of outside success. Sharing and spreading the court.''
 
Berkompas added 15 points and Sierra Gibson 10. Korriana Wilson scored seven.
