Night belongs to No. 7 Chaps, Bylsma

Ashley Bylsma and Cyd Martinez played critical roles Wednesday night, and Amanda Leibrock and Melissa Alvarez were sound on the front line as COD defeated Kankakee 3-0 in Region 4 volleyball Wednesday night.
 
COD improved to 18-11 with the victory.
 
Leibrock led in kills with 15 and Alvarez followed with 12 in the 25-19, 25-15, 25-20 victory.
 
Bylsma picked up 36 assists and hit the 1,000-career mark late in the third set.
 
Martinez was sound on serve, helping COD score 14 of its 25 points in the second thanks to her serving.
 
Harper 3, Chaparrals 1
Leibrock led COD with 15 kills and Alvarez followed with 14 but it wasn't enough in the 25-19, 21-25, 21-25, 19-25 loss at Harper on Thursday.
 
Bylsma had 41 assists and Martinez, this week's NJCAA defensive player of the week, had 27 digs.
 
Martinez now needs 24 digs to reach 1,000 in her career.
