Greg Strong's 15 points lift COD past Benedictine JV

Balanced scoring, led by freshman guard Greg Strong's 15 points off the bench, carried College of DuPage past Benedictine JV 84-66 in NJCAA men's basketball Thursday night at PEC Arena.

Strong drained 11 points in the first half, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Tylon Tolliver added 14, including six free throws in the opening half as COD improved to 2-2 overall.

John Gray III followed with 12 points and Quentin Schaffer 11. Braylen Meredith and John Kuryzsz each had nine.

"We got four guys in double figures, and I thought Greg really gave us a spark in the first half,'' head coach Joe Kuhn said. "He was the difference in getting us going after the 12-minute mark. Overall, we're pretty happy with the result. We made progress with a lot of good individual efforts.''

Strong got going for COD, which trailed 16-13 with 10:18 to go. The guard hit 10 points in a 4-plus minute stretch and the Chaparrals went on to lead at the break 45-33.

COD totaled nine 3-pointers and finished with 17 free throws.

The Chaps are at Harper on Tuesday night.
