Offensive game in flow in 89-82 win

Good balance gave the Chaparrals their best team game of the season Tuesday night in an 89-82 victory over visiting Aurora JV in men's basketball.

Braylen Meredith led the Chaps with 19 points and John Gray III followed with 18 as COD extended its winning streak to three and improved to 4-2 overall.

"On both sides of the ball, we played our best team game of the year,'' head coach Joe Kuhn said. "Our opening 15 minutes we played very well.''

COD scored 50 first-half points, thanks to Tylon Toliver's 13 points and Quentin Schaffer with 12.

The Chaps finished the night 30 of 60 from the field with six 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes.

"You can go right down the line in different guys stepping up,'' Kuhn said. "John came off the bench and hit some shots. Quentin gave us offensive production and really did a solid job of guarding on the perimeter. Braylen steady on the offensive end. And then guys like Eddy (Redento) who hit from outside and inside. He had a 3 ½ minute stretch that was pivotal.''

Michael Glover added seven points and Redento finished with five.

COD is at Prairie State on Thursday night.
