The Chaparrals evened their season series against Bryant & Stratton on Feb. 24 before losing a tough five-set match at home against St. Xavier JV in men's volleyball play for the week of Feb. 21-25.

COD (4-5 overall) returns to the road this week when it participates in the Finger Lakes Invitational in Canandaigua, N.Y., beginning Friday against the host Lakers. They'll conclude the tourney with matches against Union County and SUNY Potsdam on Saturday.

Chaps 3, Bryant & Stratton 2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 15-12)
Mike Fenley led the Chaps with 21 kills and
Fawaz Ilukoma also reached double figures with 14 in the victory. The Chaps hit a season-high 320 (59 kills, 19 errors, 125 attacks) with
Phurin Kosumpiinun setting up the offense with 42 assists. Ilukoma led in aces with two and both Kosumpiinun and
Ashton Baula had five block assists.

St. Xavier 3, Chaparrals 2 (17-25, 25-11, 25-15, 23-25, 21-19)
The Chaps were extended deep into the fifth set, but could not overcome their .008 attack percentage against the JV Cougars. Ilukoma had 11 of the Chaps' 31 kills and setters Kosumpiinun (13) and
Bo Parker (10) had 24 of the Chaps' 28 assists. Perez, Baula and
Ryan Impey all had two service aces. Libero
John Valencia led in digs with 15.
Sam Akouri followed with 12.
