A doubleheader sweep capped the Chaps' home opener Monday afternoon in their 12-11 and 9-1 victories over Sauk Valley in Region 4 softball.

The 6-2 Chaps are at Oakton on Thursday and home Saturday against Madison.

Game 1: Chaps 12, Sauk Valley 11
Trailing 5-0 entering their half of the third, the Chaps responded with a four-run third, a three-run fourth and a five-run fifth and held on for the win.
Amber Dasenbrock, hitting in the ninth position, went 3-for-4 with a stolen base.
Cassie Bogacz was 3-for-4 with three RBI and
Raquel Procopio added three hits. Sauk Valley rallied with a six-run, four-hit seventh but it wasn't enough.

Game 2: Chaps 9, Sauk Valley 1 Â 6 innings
Dasenbrock went the distance, striking out 10 and gave up just four hits for the victory. She dominated the lower half of the Sauk Valley lineup, issuing her 10 strikeouts against the Nos. 5-9 hitters, who went a combined 0-for-13.
