College of DuPage stepped outside of Region 4 play Thursday and earned a 5-4 win over North Central JV at COD field.
 
The Chaps, now 12-5 overall, are scheduled to play Saturday at Madison in N4C play.
 
Big sticks
COD jumped out to a 4-0 lead early, thanks to scoring three runs in the second. A.J. Taylor drove in three runs with a solo homer in the sixth that gave COD a 5-3 lead. He had two hits with a double. Kyle Fenner went 3-for-4 with a double and Aden Aukland had two hits, including a double.
 
Steppin' up Josh
RHP Josh Bennema was solid in his five-inning start. He didn't give up a hit until a lead-off home run in the fifth. He finished with six strikeouts, two walks and gave up only two hits. Reliever Nick Gniedziejko came on in relief, throwing two innings with four strikeouts.
