Two-time defending NJCAA champion College of DuPage opened the 2023 season in style Saturday at the St. Ambrose Invite in Davenport, Iowa.
 
The women's team qualified in 10 events by four individuals — Lillian Buzani (800 and 1500), Patty Karpiesiuk (100, 200, high jump, and pole vault), Paulina Stachura (100, high jump and long jump) and Tessa Bleers (triple jump).
 
Winning titles were: Karpiesiuk (100), and Buzani (1500).
 
The men featured 15 athletes qualifying in 13 events — 100 (Noah Mack), 200 (Mack), 400 (Graham McAninch), 800 (Sebastian Esparza, Anthony Eddy), 1500 (Sheldon Powell), 10,000 (Caleb DeBoer, Nicholas Keeling, Timothy O'Leary), 4 x 100 relay (Gabriel Parker, Aubrey Obershan, Tramere Cornelius, Mack), 110 hurdles (McAninch), pole vault (Jack Sauder, Thomas Kling), discus (Dustyn Kocsis), long jump (Parker), javelin (Kling), and hammer (Isaias Lopez).
 
Winning titles Saturday: were Mack (200), McAninch (400), Esparza (800), Powell (1500),
 
COD competes Friday at the McKendree Invite in Lebanon.
