The College of DuPage men's track and field team competed at the 2026 Outdoor Chicagoland Championships in Elmhurst, facing a deep field that included four-year programs across NCAA divisions, as well as fellow community colleges.
Kevin Diedrich delivered a standout performance, winning the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:45.31, a mark that currently ranks No. 1 nationally. Brendan Spahn followed with a fourth-place finish in the event (35:43.09), while David Aviles placed fifth (36:05.65), giving the Chaparrals three top-five finishers in the race.
In the field events, John Tarpeh placed ninth in the hammer throw with a mark of 32 meters. Dionte Shaw turned in a strong all-around showing, finishing fifth in the discus (44.12 meters) and sixth in the shot put (15.04 meters). De'Angelo McCollough added a ninth-place finish in the triple jump (13.43 meters).
William Kallas highlighted the field events with a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.63 meters.
The Chaparrals will return to competition on April 18 at the Don Church Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College.
