The College of DuPage men's track and field team traveled to nearby Wheaton for the Wheaton College Invite on March 31 and turned in a strong all-around performance across the track and field events.
Jaylin Miller led the Chaparrals in the sprints, placing fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.89 and fourth in the 200-meter dash at 22.07. Kevin Myrick also scored in the 200, finishing eighth with a time of 22.43.
Benjamin Butcher delivered a pair of top-five finishes, taking fifth in the 400 meters (51.26) and third in the 400-meter hurdles (58.48). Jacob Skibbie added a top-10 finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.17, while Kevin Diederich placed fifth in the 3,000 meters at 9:19.08.
In the hurdles, Jeremiah Williams finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.24, followed closely by Okiki Olurotimi in fifth at 16.74.
The 4x100 relay team of Miller, Eric Stephens Jr., Myrick, and Royce Krush claimed first place with a winning time of 42.32.
In the field events, William Kallas captured the pole vault title with a clearance of 4.60 meters. Peter Ogunleye placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.41 meters.
DuPage also produced strong results in the throws. John Tarpeh won the hammer throw with a mark of 47.60 meters. Tayo Taiwo finished second in the hammer (45.79 meters) and third in the shot put (14.38 meters). Jai'shawn Morris placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.06 meters, while Dionte Shaw added a fourth-place finish in the discus at 42.07 meters.
