The College of DuPage men's track & field team returned to Naperville for the second consecutive weekend, this time competing at North Central College's Slick Invitational. The Chaparrals posted several top-10 finishes in a competitive field that featured both NJCAA programs and four-year universities.
Jaylin Miller led DuPage in the 200-meter dash, placing seventh with a time of 23.02.
Benjamin Butcher also secured a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in 52.40. In the 800-meter run,
Jacob Skibbie paced the Chaps with a time of 2:05.66.
Kevin Diederich earned a top-10 finish in the 3,000 meters, taking seventh in 9:10.38.
William Kallas continued his strong season in the pole vault, clearing 4.71 meters to claim third place following his recent record-breaking performance.
Peter Ogunleye, DuPage's leading jumper, turned in a pair of top-10 finishes — placing third in the long jump with a mark of 6.78 meters and seventh in the high jump at 1.80 meters.
In the throws, Taiwo Tayo delivered two top-five performances, finishing third in the shot put with a throw of 15.02 meters and fourth in the weight throw at 15.27 meters. Jai'shawn Morris added another top-10 mark for the Chaps, placing seventh in the
shot put with a throw of 14.43 meters.
Head coach Mallory Dominguez was pleased with the men's effort, stating:
"Overall, we had a lot of personal records and season bests on the men's side across sprints, distance, and field events. We saw big PRs from several of our guys in the mile and the 60-meter dash, which is exactly what we like to see this time of year.
In the field events, pole vaulter William Kallas continues to perform well, and our throwers placed highly, too. Overall, we're really happy with their performance and excited to bring three men to the Indoor National Championship — Taiwo Tayo, Jai'shawn Morris, and Kallas in the pole vault."
