A.J. Taylor's grand slam capped a nine-run sixth inning and reliever
Joe Seiber threw five innings of two-hit ball as host and the 15
th-ranked Chaparrals routed College of Lake County 15-5 in seven innings in Region 4 play Thursday.

The Chaps, now 15-5 overall, take on Oakton this afternoon at Schaumburg's Wintrust Field. First pitch is 3 p.m.

Out of the 'pen
Seiber, who came on in relief of starter
Aden Aukland in the second inning, gave the Chaps exactly what they needed. Down 4-0 in the first, the Chaps cut the deficit in half when Seiber got the ball in the second. He faced no more than six batters in an inning, struck out five and gave up only a pair of singles. He retired the side in order in the fourth and fifth.

Big bat …. Again
The Chaps sent 12 batters to the plate in the sixth, scoring nine runs on six hits. Taylor led off the inning with a triple and the Chaps, who led 6-5 entering the inning went to work.
Joe Cosenza hit a two-run single and four batters later Taylor lifted his slam over the right-center field wall and COD led 15-5.

Taylor and
Kyle Fenner each had three hits, and Cosenza drove in three runs.
David Marshall had two RBI and
Filip Milatovic had a double in the second.
Grand Larceny
Fenner picked up two stolen bases on the day, and now ranks 4th in D3 with 26.
