Chaps reach most wins in 7 seasons

No. 12 College of DuPage dominated play Friday afternoon in its doubleheader sweep of visiting Illinois Valley College, winning 10-1 and 8-0.
 
COD (30-12 overall) reached the 30-win plateau for the first time in seven seasons. It is the Chaps' best record since going 40-15-2 in 2016.
 
The Chaps take on McHenry County in a 9-inning game Tuesday.
 
Game 1: Chaps 10, Illinois Valley 1
  • Leading 4-1 through three, COD scored five runs on four hits in the fifth to put the game away
  • Jason Cousineau's two-run double capped the inning in which the Chaps sent nine to the plate
  • A.J. Taylor, David Marshall and Ashton Gates each had two hits
  • Aden Aukland drove in two runs on sacrifice flys — in the first and fourth innings
  • RHP Michael Betancourt threw 5 innings, striking out seven and walking four while allowing four hits
  • Taylor and Gates each tripled
Game 2: Chaps 8, Illinois Valley 0
  • RHP Quinn Flanagan allowed just three hits, striking out three in 5 1/3 innings for the win
  • Cris Villwock tossed an 1 2/3 of scoreless relief with one strikeout
  • Leading 2-0, COD scored six runs on five hits in the fourth
  • Cousineau drove in three runs that included a two-run double in the fourth
  • Taylor and Fenner each had two hits
  • Julian Budziszewski doubled in the fifth
