Defending NJCAA champion College of DuPage earned a 2-3 record during its annual Texas trip to D1 power Blinn College.
 
The No. 6 Chaps defeated Dallas North (3-1) and Dallas Richland (3-1) before losing to host and No. 9 in Division I Blinn 3-0, and took a pair of losses on Saturday — losing 3-0 to No. 2 Dallas Eastfied and 3-1 to No. 7 Dallas-Brookhaven.
 
COD, now 12-10 overall, returns to Region 4 play Tuesday night at Oakton and Thursday at home against Harper.
 
Coach Tolis Koskinaris says
"We had a very competitive weekend, where everyone gave us their 'A' game. We played a hard-fought match against Brookhaven and was extended in the fourth and fifth set, but we couldn't get over the hump. Much like last season, it was a tough test and we can build off our effort. We got solid play from everyone, but we thought Melissa (Alvarez) and Grace (Beacom) were steady all weeklong long.''
 
Chaps drop to No. 9
COD dropped three places to No. 9 in the NJCAA Week #4 Division III poll, announced Monday.
 
The Chaps are joined by No. 15 Harper as the only Region 4 schools in this week's poll.
 
Century of White Bear Lake, Minn., remains No. 1 with a 16-1 record. The Chaps lost to Century 3-1 on Aug. 20 in Rockford and meet again Sept. 30 in St. Cloud, Minn.
