Chaps finish 2023 portion

COD split its weekend games at Wisconsin Dells, Wis., earning a 92-80 win over Lake Michigan and losing 98-73 against Bay College.
 
The Chaps (9-6, 5-5 Region 4) return to Region 4 play Thursday night when they face Madison College at PEC Arena. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
 
Chaps 92, Lake Michigan 80
Jayden Dean scored 22 points off the bench and Greg Strong added 20 and Quentin Schaffer 19 as the Chaps built off their 42-32 halftime lead into the victory over the Red Hawks from Benton Harbor, Mich.
 
The teams combined to shoot 76 free throws and the Chaps hit 12 3-pointers for the 12-point win.
 
Dean hit 7 of 9 field goals along with six free throws, and Strong hit 5 treys.
 
Schaffer and Braylen Meredith each dished out five assists and Eddy Redento led in rebounds with a season-high 11.
 
Bay College 98, Chaps 73
Dean and Meredith each scored 19 points, but the Norse from Escanaba, Mich., dominated with a second-half 57-point effort for the victory.
 
Meredith had nine rebounds and Dean hit four threes.
 
Chaps 79, Oakton 64
Five Chaps scored in double figures and were led by Schaffer and Dean with 15 points each in the victory on Dec. 21 at COD.
 
The game was tied at 41 with 17:18 to go after Oakton opened the second half on a 14-3 run. But the Chaps answered right back with 11 straight points and remained out front.
 
Ben Zielinski and Meredith each had 13 and Strong added 12.
