Five in double figures in decisive win

The Chaparrals found their way after seven minutes of play Tuesday night.
 
Five Chaps scored in double figures, led by freshman Braylen Meredith's 23 points, as they overpowered Harper College 88-71 in Region 4 men's basketball.
 
COD improved to 14-10, 9-9 Region 4 entering Thursday night's home game against Joliet. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
 
Meredith hit 10 of 17 from the floor with four rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals. It was his fifth 20-point game on the year and his third in six games.
 
Greg Strong added 17, going 7 of 7 from the line and Quentin Schaffer (14) and John Kurysz added 13.
 
Freshman Ben Zielinski earned a double-double with 10 points, team-highs in rebounds (12) and assists (five) with two steals.
 
The Chaps trailed 18-7 in the first seven minutes before they got their game in flow. They struck back on a 22-10 run and led 41-36 at halftime.
 
COD extended the lead to 19 with 10 minutes left (69-50). The Chaps hit 16 of 32 from the field in the final 20 minutes.
