The Chaparrals split their matches Saturday during South Suburban's annual Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Day in South Holland.
 
COD defeated Olive-Harvey 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21) in a Region 4 match, and then lost against Kalamazoo Valley (Mich.) 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 27-25).
 
The Chaps (16-11, 12-2 Region 4, 5-0 Region 4, D3) will be in action four times in four days this week, playing at Kankakee on Tuesday, home against Highland Thursday and  matches Friday in Rockford (vs. Rock Valley and Madison).

The Chaps controlled the match from the outset, totaling 34 kills in the straight-set victory. Josephine Becker led in kills with 13 and totaled 14.5 points for the match, thanks to her three block assists.
 
Samantha Hornbogen added six kills.
 
Setter Ava Diaz totaled 25 of the Chaps' 33 assists, and Francesca Brandonisio led in aces (four) and digs (13).
 
Camila Fundora chipped in two aces.
 
Kalamazoo Valley 3, COD 0
The Chaps hit just .088 (30 kills, 20 errors, 113 attacks) for the match and had no answers against the Cougars' Olivia Dennis and Holland DeVries, who combined for 22 of KVCC's 37 kills.
 
Becker led in kills with nine and Christina Savaglio and Hornbogen each had six. Ava Diaz totaled 24 asists and Brandonisio had two aces.
 
Becker had two solo blocks and five block assists, and Brandonisio led in digs with 15. Fundora added nine and Diaz eight.
