Daca Earns First Team All-American Bid

College of DuPage sophomore middle hitter Megan Daca, fresh off her Region IV Player of the Year distinction, has been named a First Team All-American by the NJCAA Division III Volleyball Committee.

In 37 matches this season, Daca recorded 231 kills and posted a .304 hitting percentage. She also added 43 service aces and 16 solo blocks, while ranking among the nation's best in block assists with 109 (third) and total blocks with 125 (fourth). Her all-around performance played a crucial role in the Chaparrals' Region IV and Great Lakes District championships, as well as their impressive run at the NJCAA National Tournament, where they knocked off previously unbeaten Butler County Community College and finished fourth in the nation.

Head coach Tolis Koskinaris praised Daca's dedication, saying, "A deserving award for Megan, who put in a lot of time and effort in the offseason to improve her game. It's great to see when such investment pays off in a young athlete. We hope the best for her as she pursues a transfer to a four-year program."

When asked what the honor means to her, Daca reflected: "All my hard work that I spent in the summer training, working with my team. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for my setters, my passers, the motivation from my team. I can't take all the credit because I wouldn't be here without them, and I give a large part of what I do to the people in my life. They got me here."

She continued, "My coaches, my family, definitely Ella, Frankie, and Ava. Those are my solid core who kept me going during the year. They kept me motivated and made sure I stayed on the right path, so I wouldn't be here without everyone in my life."

Daca is currently exploring her next steps in her volleyball career and shared an update on her recruiting process: "I want to play for a four-year, so I just sent out my video. I've already gotten quite a bit of schools reaching out, so I'm responding back, talking to coaches and figuring out where to go from here. I don't really have anything in mind yet; I just would like to continue playing as the years go on."
