The Chaparrals pushed their season-long winning streak to five with an efficient 3-0 win over visiting Waubonsee in NJCAA Region 4 volleyball Thursday night.
 
COD (15-9, 11-1 Region 4, 5-0 Region 4 III) is at Harper on Tuesday night and return home Oct. 17 against Highland.
 
On this night, the Chaparrals grabbed control from the outset, fought off a game Chiefs squad in the second and rolled in the third set in a 25-11, 28-26, 25-10 victory.
 
COD never trailed in the opener, taking advantage of 13 WCC attack errors.
 
In the second, COD answered back after trailing through much of the early going. The Chaps took their first lead at 19-18 and were tied five times until grabbing hold with the final two points of the set at 28-26.
 
Then in the third, the Chaps took control with a 9-1 run after holding a slim 9-6 lead.
 
Skylar Huffman led in kills with eight and Jillian Ross followed with six. Setter Ava Diaz delivered 20 of COD's 27 assists. Both Diaz and Jayde Grant led in aces with three as COD compiled 13 on the night.
 
Libero Francesca Brandonisio (16) and Huffman (12) keyed on digs, and Josephine Becker had one solo and three block assists.
