No. 1 Chaps close out regular season, 63-0

No. 1-ranked College of DuPage finished the regular season Saturday much like any other of its victories this season, punishing host Community Christian 63-0 in NJCAA football.

The Chaps (10-1) now await Monday's NJCAA announcement for the National Championship. The three-time defending champion COD will take on either Louisburg (N.C.) or North Dakota State College of Science in the title game, set for Dec. 7 at College of DuPage.

Freshman quarterback Justin Bland threw for 250 yards on 14 of 25 passing with five TDs, and running back Ernest Temple scored three TDs on six carries for 60 yards in the one-sided blowout in Motown.

The Chaps rolled up 50 yards of total offense with an even split between passing yards and rushing yards (251).

Jamereon Dale added the other rushing TD for COD and finished with 59 yards on five carries.

Bland connected on scores with WRs Jacob Zarek, Willie Feagin, Ian Poston, and Deszmund White and also threw a TD to Dale.

Sophomore All-American kicker Christian Casillas kept his phenomenal season in check. The Alsip native converted on all nine of his PATs and he now takes a perfect 56-of-56 slate into the title game. He is 11 of 15 on field goals with an NJCAA record-tying 62 yarder to his credit.

The Chaps won by a combined 113-0 in their two games against Community Christian.
