The Chaps lost their opener to Oakton 74-68 and came back the following day with an impressive 86-83 win over non-region foe Grand Rapids (Mich.) CC.

Oakton 74, Chaparrals 68
A tight game turned against the Chaparrals as Oakton hit nearly half of its field goals from 3-point range. The Owls, who led 36-32 at halftime, scored 12 3s and shot 42.6 percent from the floor on 26-of-61 shooting.
Braylen Meredith led COD with 17 points (7-11 FGs, 3-5 FTs) with
Greg Strong (11 points, 4-12 FGs, 2 3s) and
Christian Marshall (10 points) each scoring in double figures. COD was held to 6-of-24 from 3-point land.

Chaparrals 86, Grand Rapids 83
Ramone Enis led COD with 23 points and was perfect on nine free throw attempts, including two with 11 seconds left as COD earned its first win of the season. The Chaps led by as many as 10 in the second half and held off the Raiders.
Greg Strong scored 16,
Braylen Meredith 15 and
Christian Marshall 11. COD was much more proficient on offense, handing out 17 assists and turning the ball over just 11 times. COD outscored GRCC 23-8 at the line.
