Sophomore All-Region forward Braylen Meredith scored 25 points as the Chaparrals outlasted host Illinois Valley in their 70-66 win in NJCAA Region 4 men's basketball Thursday night.
 
COD (3-1, 2-1 Region 4) is off until Thursday when it travels to Black Hawk College.
 
Sophomores Greg Strong and Ben Zielinski each scored in double figures with 17 and 12, respectively. Each hit three 3-pointers.
 
The Chaparrals trailed for most of the game, but answered back in the second half with Meredith hitting 15 second-half points.
 
"Bray did a nice job of getting to the line and took over when we needed it,'' head coach Joe Kuhn said.
 
IVCC led at halftime 33-32.
 
"Good teams find a way to win and we're working well together,'' Kuhn said. "Both Greg and Ben hit from outside and Adyn (McGinley) hit a big 3 late.''
 
COD outscored the Eagles 26-16 at the free throw line.
