Chaps keep foot on the pedal from beginning to end

The Chaparrals closed the first half of the 2024-25 season with 40 minutes of quality play in a 94-69 Region 4 victory over visiting Carl Sandburg on Dec. 20.
 
Freshman guard Charles Farrell came off the bench and led the Chaps with a season-high 23 points to lead four Chaps in double figures. Fellow freshman Adyn McGinley produced 14 points with seven assists and six rebounds, while Terence Spencer added 13 points and Ramone Enis 12.
 
COD (10-4, 6-4 Region 4) opens the second half of play Jan. 4 at home against Prairie State (4-9, 2-7).
 
Farrell gave COD a personal 11-0 run in a 5-minutes span in the first half as the Chaps fired 50 percent from the field on 15 of 30 shooting. COD closed the game with an even better effort from the field, hitting 21 of 30 shots in the final 20 minutes.
 
Nine players dealt an assist with COD totaling 29 assists on a total of 36 field goals. Greg Strong handed out five assists and Payton Moore, who scored nine points, dealt four along with Brayden Meredith, who also scored nine points.
 
COD never trailed and led by as many as 26 with 40 seconds left.
