Chaps overpower Lancers in second half

Freshman guard Adyn McGinley scored 19 of his game-high 25 points in the second half and teammate Braylen Meredith followed with 19 as COD outplayed visiting College of Lake County in the second half in Tuesday's 75-63 Region 4 men's basketball victory at PEC Arena.

COD improved to 7-2 overall and won its fourth straight; the best start for COD since opening the 2014-15 season 6-3.

Leading 39-34 at halftime, McGinley scored 15 of COD's 20 points in a 7-½ minute span, helping the Chaps break away, 63-51 with 5:16 left.

He finished 9 of 14 from the field with five 3-pointers and a team-high four assists in 35 minutes.

Meredith hit 12 first-half points, along with seven rebounds, two blocks and two assists.

Greg Strong also scored in double figures with 14, along with four rebounds and three assists.

"Our defense was very strong in the second half tonight,'' head coach Joe Kuhn said. "Adyn stepped up and gave us some cushion when we needed it. All around, a good win. It was good to see a different five on the court at the end of the game. We had a lot of guys involved.''

COD is at Aurora JV on Thursday. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
