COD took four-year NAIA-member Bethel University to four sets in men's volleyball Tuesday night at PEC Arena.

Mike Fenley led the Chaps in kills with nine, and
Justus Barbel added five in the 29-27, 17-25, 21-25, 23-25 loss to the Pilots.

Setter
Phurin Kosumapinun, in his first action of the season, earned the start at setter and had 21 assists. Both Barbel and
Blake Huberty led in service aces with two.

Kosumapinun keyed the Chaps' defense with 13 digs, and
Nathan Kamaris had two solo blocks and one block assist.

The Chaps (3-5 overall) are at North Park JV on Thursday and return to PEC Arena this weekend when they play host to the inaugural Chap Invite. They face Judson JV and Monroe (N.Y.) on Saturday, then wrap up the tourney Sunday against Finger Lakes (N.Y.) and St. Xavier JV.

First set: Both teams played back-and-forth with 15 ties and four-set point plays … The final tie occurred at 27-27 before Huberty's successive service aces delivered a 29-27 victory …
Second set: Two early ties set up Bethel, which broke free and took an 8-4 lead. The Pilots remained out front and built their lead to 20-13 before closing out …
Third set: Three early ties occurred before Bethel moved out front at 4-3. COD got to within 11-10 and 23-21
… Fourth set: COD played much more inspired with five ties, the last at 11-11. COD seemed to grab control by stringing five straight points for a 16-11 lead. The Chaps remained out front at 22-19 but after a Chaps timeout, Bethel rallied with five consecutive points and closed the night at 25-23.
