COD went 1-3 this weekend after playing host to the inaugural COD Invitational.
 
The Chaps opened the tourney with a 3-1 victory over Judson JV, and then were dealt a 3-1 loss to Monroe CC of New Rochelle, N.Y.
 
Justus Barbel and Mike Fenley each had 11 kills in the victory over the Eagles, and Barbel added a pair of service aces and 3 total blocks. Huberty led in kills with eight against Monroe, and Barbel and Osiel Cruz next with seven.
 
On Sunday, the Chaps opened against last year's NJCAA invitational champion Finger Lakes, which defeated COD 3-0.
 
The Chaps held momentum early against Finger Lakes, leading 15-11 in the opener. But after a Finger Lakes' time-out, the Lakers answered back to tie at 16-16, and then moved ahead at 20-17. The Chaps responded with three straight points, but the Lakers closed out with three straight points of their own and won, 25-22.
 
In the second, Finger Lakes produced a 6-0 run after the set was tied at 8-8 and remained out front for the set victory.
 
COD and Finger Lakes combined for 12 ties and four set points in the third. At 27-27, Finger Lakes closed out COD for the final margin.
 
COD then completed the weekend in a 3-0 loss to St. Xavier JV. The Chaps held the lead in the opener, until the Cougars tied at 20-20. They pushed through three straight points and closed out.
 
In the second, 11 ties brought the score at 17-17 until the Cougars earned a four-point run and won. And in the third, the Cougars claimed the lead for good at 5-4.
 
Bo Parker led in kills with seven and in aces with three. He also had four digs.
 
This week, COD plays host to the North Park JV on Friday night. First serve is 6 p.m.
