No. 4 Chaps denied against No. 15 Dallas North Lake

No. 4 College of DuPage and No. 15 Dallas North Lake performed at a back-and-forth rate in their Thursday night match and the visiting Blazers willed their way to victory, handing the Chaparrals a 3-1 defeat (25-23, 21-25, 25-22, 25-22).

COD, now 5-2 overall, takes on Joliet Junior College (1 p.m.) and UW Whitewater at Rock County (5 p.m.) as play continues at the COD Invitational at PEC Arena.

In the opening set, the Blazers scored the set's final three points after the final tie at 22-22.

COD bounced back in the second, much like the Texans in the opener. Tied at 21, COD scored the final four points to tie the match at 1-1.

But the final two sets belonged to Dallas North Lake. COD led 21-17, before the Blazers scored six straight points to take the lead and eventually the set.

And in the fourth, the Chaps trailed the entire set, but got to within a point (23-22) before the Blazers scored the final points of the night.

Caytlin Johns led the Chaps with 10 kills and Josephine Becker and Skylar Huffman each had nine. Becker added four service aces and Jayde Grant had three.

COD struggled at serve-receive with 16 service errors and six receiving errors.

Becker also had two solo blocks.
