Team play pays off against Harper

Inside play and quality distribution of the ball paid off for COD, which defeated host Harper 65-53 in Region 4 men's play Tuesday night.
 
Sophomore Braylen Meredith scored 18 points to lead the Chaparrals, who have won four straight and take a 14-5 overall and 8-5 Region 4 records into Saturday's game at Wilbur Wright (5-11, 3-10).
 
COD shot 17-of-28 from inside the paint and dealt 24 assists of its 27 field goals.
 
The Chaps broke away from the Hawks after leading 47-45 midway through the second half. COD finished the game on an 18-8 run for the victory.
 
Sophomore Ben Zielinski scored all nine of his points on threes. Charles Farrell and Greg Strong each had eight points.
 
Meredith finished 8-of-13 from the floor and also led in rebounds with six. Freshman guard Adyn McGinley dealt seven assists, while Christian Marshall dished five and Farrell four.
 
Meredith and Marshall had three steals each.
