The College of DuPage's women's volleyball team embarked on a doubleheader Saturday, Oct. 4, earning back to back sweeps against each opponent.
The day began with the Chaps taking on the Spartans of Olive-Harvey College. DuPage prevailed in a 3-0 result, taking the sets 25-21, 25-21, 25-15.
Claire Rambasek led with 7 kills, while
Isabella Furmanski and Sami Hornbogen each added 5. Rambasek also recorded 6 service aces.
Alyza Grubich and
Jaime Volz each tallied 9 assists.
Megan Daca and Furmanski each contributed a solo block, while Francesa Brandonisio notched 12 digs and
Jamie Loftus added 8.
In the second match of the day, DuPage faced Elgin Community College and remained perfect on the day, earning another 3-0 sweep with set scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-23.
A variety of Chaps contributed both offensively and defensively.
Attie Zanderson tallied 4 kills. Grubich led the way with 15 assists, while
Amirah Harrington and
Ava Diaz each contributed 6. Brandonisio added 5 service aces.
"Good day for DuPage volleyball," said head coach
Tolis Koskinaris. "Strong efforts from all players. Our setters, in particular
Alyza Grubich, were really locked in together with our middles. Our depth is showing its value and allows us to get some girls to rest as we get toward the end of the season."
DuPage is back on the road in Milwaukee to take on the Stormers of Milwaukee Area Technical College on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
