The College of DuPage men's basketball team got back in the win column Nov. 11 when they traveled to Grayslake, Illinois, for a match up with College of Lake County. The Chaparrals put together an aggressive offensive effort to earn a 89-77 win.
DuPage shot 42 free throws throughout the contest, a strong indicator of their attacking style. Shooting 47% from the field, the Chaps controlled the game for most of the night.
Ethan Howard led the way with 29 points, while
Logan Glover and
Adyn McGinley each added 13.
JJ Hernandez and McGinley paced the team with five rebounds apiece.
Head coach
Joe Kuhn was pleased with his team's performance.
"We shot 42 free throws on the road, which means we were really attacking offensively," Kuhn said. "We were able to get ourselves into the bonus early in each half, which ultimately was probably the difference. We talked about needing to get into the 80s offensively, and we finished with 89, so that was great.
"We guarded their three-point shooters pretty well, they've got a number of them, and they're difficult to defend because of that," he said. "But overall, it was a very good road win for us. I'm pleased with the effort, and now it's about building on this and seeing if we can get better for our next game."
The Chaparrals return to action Nov. 13 when they host Illinois Valley Community College at the PEC Arena in Glen Ellyn.
