The College of DuPage men's and women's cross country teams remained in snowy Fort Dodge, Iowa, following their championship-winning weekend to compete in the NJCAA Half Marathon Championships on Nov. 11.
The 13.1-mile race featured a combined field of all NJCAA divisions. The Chaparrals placed 16th out of 32 teams on the men's side and 16th out of 22 on the women's side. Both squads delivered gritty performances, finishing ahead of several Division I and Division II programs.
"This is a DI, DII, and DIII combined championship," head coach
Mallory Dominguez said. "The men were 16th out of 32 teams and top DIII team in the field, besting 14 Division I and II scholarship programs. The women were 16th out of 22, beating six Division II teams in their first ever attempt the distance and the first time the Chaps have appeared at this championship. We are so proud of them for capping off a great championship weekend."
