The College of DuPage women's cross country team finished 17th out of 19 teams and were the top two-year college at the Augustana College Invitational on Oct. 3 at Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois.

Freshman Daniela Beto Tecaxo led the Chaps, finishing 85th overall in 26:50.7. Fatima Moreno followed in 100th at 27:45.7, while Shaylee Powell placed 112th at 28:16.7.

Makena Brown finished 126th at 29:09.2 and Olivia Jarek placed 129th at 29:33.7.

The Chaps' all-freshman lineup continued to gain experience at the 6K distance, with four of the team's five runners recording personal records.

"The ladies ran a great race," Dominguez said. "We are figuring out the 6K now with this all-freshman squad and it showed Saturday. Four of five PR'd, led by Daniela Beto Tecaxo. I know they are just starting to tap into what they are capable of and I'm excited for the coming meets."

The Chaps return to action Oct. 16 at the Bradley Pink Invite at Newman Golf Course in Peoria.
