Spartans hand men's basketball first loss of season

Moore collects 14, Glover adds 10 off the bench

Turnovers proved costly for the College of DuPage men's basketball program against Elgin Community College on Nov. 6. Despite shooting 45% from the field through the forty minutes of Region 4 play, COD's 29 turnovers compared to forcing just 12 of them from ECC were the difference-maker in a 91-62 defeat.

Both the Chaparrals and Spartans shot 50% from the floor entering the half, but ECC took 16 more attempts than COD. At the break, Elgin led 46-28.

While DuPage cooled off slightly in the second half (45.3% on 27 shots), the Spartans maintained hot hands, eclipsing the 50% mark on 35 second-half shots.

It was a hard-fought rebounding battle with ECC narrowly winning the margin by three boards, 37-34. DuPage played clean defense, only allowing ECC to get to the free throw line for two attempts all game.

Payton Moore led DuPage with 14 points, highlighted by four three-pointers, along with two assists. Logan Glover contributed 10 off the bench. Cameron Chandler paced DuPage with six rebounds and one of four blocks by the Chaps.

DuPage (1-1) treks forward to Grayslake on Nov. 11 against the College of Lake County Lancers.
