Turnovers proved costly for the College of DuPage men's basketball program against Elgin Community College on Nov. 6. Despite shooting 45% from the field through the forty minutes of Region 4 play, COD's 29 turnovers compared to forcing just 12 of them from ECC were the difference-maker in a 91-62 defeat.
Both the Chaparrals and Spartans shot 50% from the floor entering the half, but ECC took 16 more attempts than COD. At the break, Elgin led 46-28.
While DuPage cooled off slightly in the second half (45.3% on 27 shots), the Spartans maintained hot hands, eclipsing the 50% mark on 35 second-half shots.
It was a hard-fought rebounding battle with ECC narrowly winning the margin by three boards, 37-34. DuPage played clean defense, only allowing ECC to get to the free throw line for two attempts all game.
Payton Moore led DuPage with 14 points, highlighted by four three-pointers, along with two assists.
Logan Glover contributed 10 off the bench.
Cameron Chandler paced DuPage with six rebounds and one of four blocks by the Chaps.
DuPage (1-1) treks forward to Grayslake on Nov. 11 against the College of Lake County Lancers.
