Entering Tuesday night on a three-game winning streak, the College of DuPage men's basketball program held on to secure four-in-a-row over Black Hawk College, 87-68.
DuPage's defense stimied the Braves for the first half, only allowing 29 points before the break. Twelve turnovers allowed more offensive production on the other end even though BHC out-rebounded COD by a slim margin on the night.
Offensively,
Ethan Howard took over the contest. A healthy dosage of driving to the rim would result in a made basket or a foul and free throws, or some cases both. Howard made 11 of 14 shots, including a three-pointer, to go along with seven made free throws.
As Black Hawk started to focus more on Howard, the guard spread the wealth with a team-high four assists. Amarri Ford,
Logan Glover and
JJ Hernandez each notched twelve points on the night.
Ford, Hernandez and
Vuk Zogovic each had multiple makes from beyond the arc, while Glover's exclamation mark came from a flushed dunk.
Free throws down the stretch proved vital for the Chaps, as COD made more free throws (20) than BHC attempted (16).
Howard and Glover combined for five blocks on the night; Howard added two steals to fill out the stat sheet on a stellar night.
COD (6-2) heads to Sugar Grove against Waubonsee CC on Thursday, Dec. 4 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. COD is seeking its first win over the Chiefs in a decade.
