The College of DuPage men's basketball team went down to the wire with the Waubonsee Community College Chiefs on Thursday, Dec. 4.
Down nine points with a minute remaining, the Chaparrals rallied to tie the contest up at 83 apiece. With five seconds left in regulation, a foul was called against DuPage. Already in the bonus, it gifted the Chiefs two shots at the free throw line. WCC capitalized and escaped with an 85-83 victory in Sugar Grove.
It was a valiant effort from DuPage, who trailed by seven points at the half. Shooting at only 35% from the floor in the first saw a spike up to over 40% in the second; COD put up 47 points in the final twenty minutes.
The Chaps were overly physical, out-rebounding the Chiefs by a wide margin, 48 to 37.Â
Ethan Howard had a career night in the loss, posting a 32-point and 11-rebound double-double, including four made three's.
Logan Glover was a solid contributor off the bench, adding 20 and 8, respectively.
Adyn McGinley rounded out the scoring with 14 points on three more makes from beyond the arc.Â
COD (6-3) heads to Janesville to take on the Blackhawk Technical College Talons on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3pm.Â
