South Suburban 78, Chaparrals 69

Freshman Cameron Chandler enjoyed his best game of the season, scoring a career-high 18 points with 13 rebounds, and sophomore Greg Strong led with 19 points, but host South Suburban grabbed the lead in the first half and defeated the Chaps 78-69 in Region 4 men's basketball Thursday night.

COD (18-9, 11-9 Region 4) travels to Madison, Wis., on Saturday to take on the 18-6, 16-4 WolfPack in its road regular-season finale.

The Chaps held a two-point lead with 6:45 left in the first half, but the Bulldogs answered back and led 35-25 at halftime.

COD trailed by 21 with 13:10 to go in a game with four ties and two lead changes.

Chandler hit 8-of-9 field goals and eight of his 13 rebounds came off the offensive glass. He also added a blocked shot in his 27 minutes of play.

Strong contributed four of COD's eight steals. His 19 points marked the sixth time since Jan. 6 he has scored at least 19.

Charles Farrell added 13 points and Ramone Enis 12 off the bench. Terence Spencer completed the scoring with seven points.
