College of DuPage saw its 14-match unbeaten streak come to an end Tuesday in a 3-0 loss to the visiting St. Xavier JV in men's volleyball at PEC Arena.
The Chaps (14-1) are at Roosevelt on Friday and return home Tuesday against Benedictine.
Freshman
Braeden Zant led the Chaps with 11 kills in the 30-28, 27-25, 26-24 defeat. COD hit .176 on the night (33 kills 17 errors, 91 attacks).
In the opener, both teams matched up well with 21 ties, the last at 28-28, until the Cougars pulled ahead.
The second saw much of the same with the Cougars holding the lead until COD earned its first tie at 12. Eleven more ties occurred, yet, the visitors answered with consecutive points after tied at 25-each.
COD hit .167 in the third with just nine kills.
Brayden Tejeda followed with five kills. Setter
Nathan Perez set-up 28 of the team's 31 assists.
Bill Lubas and
Adam Janowiak had COD's only service aces and libero
Ben Hoover led in digs with 14.
COD totaled two solo and 10 block assists. Sophomore
Justus Barbel led with with one solo and three BA's.
