The College of DuPage women's tennis team hosted Milwaukee Area Technical College on Sept. 27, dropping the match 6-3 in sweltering conditions in Glen Ellyn.
At No. 1 doubles,
Ava Bartels and
Semra Jadadic earned an 8-6 victory. Head coach
Jim Bowers praised their effort, noting the pair is "starting to gel and react much better together with their strong back-court play."
In singles action,
Lexi Olofsson battled for a win at No. 5. Her match was headed for a super tiebreak, but her opponent was forced to default due to the heat. Bowers credited Olofsson for withstanding the heat and earning the win in tough conditions. At No. 6 singles,
Martina Ulloa secured a 6-2, 6-3 win.
"I was happy with the effort that everyone gave on the court today," Bowers said. "We were fortunate to get some valuable points in certain spots, but even in our losses we learned some valuable lessons that we can bring toward our next match."
The Chaps return to action Sept. 30, when they host McHenry County College at 3 p.m.
