College of DuPage Women's Volleyball team entered day two of the Chap Invite with high expectations. After coming off an intense battle the night before vs. Dallas College North Lake, the Chaparrals were looking to cruise through day two.
Unfortunately, it was, and wasn't what happened.
In the first game versus NJCAA region 4 opponent Joliet Junior College, the Chaps cruised to a three set victory with sets of 25-16, 25-21, 25-19. Four DuPage women played outstanding with
Isabella Furmanski hitting an outstanding .375 kill percentage.
Megan Daca was equally impressive as she was on day one hitting for .375 kill percentage as well as two blocks and one block assist.
Attie Zanderson got hot as well as she hit for .308 with six kills. Mrs. Consistent
Claire Rambasek had eight kills, hit .316, had ten digs, and three blocks.
Francesca Brandonisio has the golden serve as she led the team with six service aces. The Chaparrals improved their season to 7-4 as they played at 5pm vs. Caldwell Tech out of North Carolina.
The second half of the double header didn't exactly go the way COD women had planned.
Caldwell Tech came out and punched DuPage in the mouth as the Cobra's came out on fire and took the first two games from the Lady Chaparrals.
In a back and forth affair, the first set was more about the DuPage women and the amount of errors they posted in the first set. With only 13 kills and 12 errors, the women tried to claw their way back but ultimately fell short in set one losing 26-28. The same could be said about set number two as the Chaps still could not find their way losing the second set with only 6 kills and another 8 errors 21-25.
Now with the ladies finding themselves in a hole 0-2, it was time for the reverse sweep. DuPage decided to wake up and went on the offensive as they took games three and four by scores of 25-23 and 25-19.
With the fifth and final set coming down to anybody's ballgame, the Lady Chaparrals persevered and were able to come out victorious winning the fifth set by a score of 17-15.
Cailen Sadkowski decided it was time to play tough as she hit for an outstanding .529. She had nine kills and four block assists.
College of DuPage stuns Caldwell Tech by coming all the way back and winning a five set thriller with scores of 26-28, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 17-15. This moved DuPage total record to 8-4 on the year as they head into day three of the Chap Invite.
