The College of DuPage men's basketball team returned home to the PEC Arena on Jan. 12 to host the Aurora Spartans JV team. The Chaps took advantage of the tune-up opportunity, building a 23-point halftime lead and cruising to a 100-68 victory.
Ethan Howard led DuPage with 18 points and added five assists.
Vuk Zogovich connected on four 3-pointers on his way to a 16-point performance.
Terrell Morton finished with 14 points and was a defensive force, recording 5 steals, while
JJ Hernandez rounded out the top scorers with 13 points. Overall, DuPage shot 42 of 76 from the field.
Head coach
Joe Kuhn was pleased with the effort.
"I thought we did a lot of really good things," Kuhn said. "We shared the ball well. I think we had our highest assist ratio of the year, and defensively in the first half I thought we were outstanding."
Kuhn knows tougher test lie ahead, beginning with Region IV foe Wilbur Wright College on Jan 15, and believes strong defense will be the key to success.
"We just need to continue to defend in the stretches that we have," Kuhn said. "We have such elite defensive stretches, and if we can continue to do that, it's going to pay dividends as we keep going."
The Chaps host the Rams at the PEC Arena, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 15.
