The College of DuPage men's basketball team improved its overall record to 12-6 with an 84-65 victory over Harper College on Jan. 17. The win marked the fourth consecutive game in which the Chaps have scored 80 or more points and extended their winning streak to three games.
Ethan Howard continued his strong play after a 31-point performance against Wilbur Wright, shooting 10-of-16 from the field to finish with a game-high 25 points.
Logan Glover, typically a presence in the paint, knocked down two 3-pointers on his way to a 15-point night.
Amari Ford added 10 points, highlighted by a late first-half dunk that sent the PEC Arena into a frenzy.
Adyn McGinley also scored 10 points and connected on two 3-pointers.
Defensively, Ford pulled down seven defensive rebounds. Howard recorded three steals, while
JJ Hernandez added four steals to disrupt the Hawks' offense.
Head coach
Joe Kuhn acknowledged areas for improvement but was encouraged by the team's defensive effort against another Region IV opponent.
"There were stretches where we didn't finish well enough at the rim and missed some free throws," Kuhn said. "I think we left a lot of points out there, but our defensive intensity was greater for longer stretches. That's definitely an improvement from our last game."
The Chaps will travel to Madison, Wis., on Jan. 22 to face the Wolfpack of Madison College. DuPage will look to earn its third consecutive victory over Madison after an 81-68 win last season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
