The College of DuPage volleyball team picked up two more sweeps Oct. 3 at the fifth annual Katie Crandol Stand Up to Cancer Tournament at South Suburban College in South Holland, extending its winning streak to seven matches. The tournament honors the memory of Katie Crandol and raises funds to support a family affected by cancer.
The Chaps opened the day with a dominant 3-0 victory over Kennedy-King College, winning 25-6, 25-9 and 25-7.
Claire Rambasek and
Isabella Furmanski led the Chaps with 10 kills apiece, while the team hit .531 for the match.
Addisyn Gardner recorded 18 assists and four aces,
Amirah Harrington added 13 assists and three aces, and
Jamie Loftus served five aces.
Isidora Aleksic led the defensive effort with six digs.
COD followed with another sweep, defeating host South Suburban 25-21, 25-15 and 25-18.
Laila Lawson led the Chaps with eight kills, while Rambasek and Furmanski each added seven.
Zoey Aldarondo finished with six kills and four aces. Gardner recorded 16 assists and Harrington added 13.
"Total team effort today at a wonderful Stand Up to Cancer Tournament," head coach
Tolis Koskinaris said. "The hosts do a really nice job putting this event together, and it makes us all feel a part of something bigger than volleyball."
The Chaps have won seven straight matches and will host Joliet Junior College on Oct. 7.
