The No. 4 College of DuPage women's volleyball team picked up a pair of victories this week, defeating Kankakee Community College in five sets before earning a four-set win over University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Rock County.
COD opened the week Sept. 23 with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Kankakee, winning 23-25, 25-16, 17-25, 25-11, 18-16.
The Chaps battled through a back-and-forth match that came down to the final points in the fifth set.
Wendalynn Pollak and Claire
Rambasek each recorded 15 kills, while
Zoey Aldarondo added 10 kills and 12 digs.
Addisyn Gardner directed the offense with 42 assists while also recording three service aces and 14 digs.
Isabella Furmanski added five block assists.
Head coach
Tolis Koskinaris credited his team for stepping up when the match was on the line.
"Players stepping up, when needed, is foundational to successful teams and good programs," Koskinaris said.
The Chaps followed with another victory Sept. 24, defeating UW-Whitewater Rock County 3-1, 25-11, 25-11, 20-25, 25-22.
Rambasek led COD with 12 kills, while
Amirah Harrington recorded 18 assists.
Amani Harrington, Aldarondo and Pollak each recorded three service aces.
Furmanski continued her strong play in the middle, recording one solo block and five block assists.
The two victories extend the Chaps' winning streak to four matches. COD will travel to Wauwatosa, Wis., Sept. 30 to take on Bryant & Stratton.
