Chaps get back in win column versus Spartans

The College of DuPage men's volleyball team bounced back from its first loss of the 2026 season with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Aurora University reserve squad on Feb. 20 in Glen Ellyn. The Chaparrals dropped the opening set 19-25 before edging out set two, 25-23. The Spartans narrowly claimed the third set, 29-27, but DuPage responded in dominant fashion with a 25-18 fourth-set win and sealed the match by outlasting Aurora 15-13 in the fifth. The Chaps improved to 10-1 on the season with the victory.

Adam Janowiak turned in an efficient performance, hitting .276 while recording a team-high 11 kills and adding six digs. Adam Sanchez contributed an ace and anchored the net defense with two solo blocks and one block assist. Brayden Tejeda added two solo blocks of his own.

Amadeus Morales tallied a service ace and seven assists, while Danny Overlin delivered a balanced effort with 10 kills, one ace, and nine digs. Lance Mueller added six kills, and Max McDermott directed the offense with 22 assists. Nick Ockrim led the defensive effort with 19 digs.

Head coach Tolis Koskinaris praised his team's response after the match, stating, "Nice win tonight against a quality Aurora University program. It was nice to rebound after a loss at Judson. Our guys really stepped up and I can't say enough about our ball handling and our attacking today. It was very clean and that's what's needed for us to compete at a high level."

DuPage, now 10-1, will look to start a new winning streak when it hosts St. Xavier in Glen Ellyn on Feb. 24. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
